ReFuelEU + EU ETS filings for small operators

The filing season, run for you.

Every year your airline owes three filings by 31 March. Aeroledger turns a year of fuel records into all three, for regional, ACMI and cargo airlines too small for a compliance department.

Next deadline: 31 March 2027 / reporting year 2026 / third ReFuelEU cycle

Three filings, every 31 March

01 / The job
Filing 1

The verified emissions report

A year of flight emissions, counted, checked by an independent verifier, and ready for the EU ETS.

Filing 2

The ReFuelEU report

Fuel uplift and anti-tankering, filed to the EASA Sustainability Portal before the deadline.

Filing 3

The SAF allowance application

Your claim for the free allowances the EU sets aside for operators using sustainable aviation fuel.

The paperwork problem

02 / Why it hurts

A year of fuel tickets, invoices and SAF certificates sits in inboxes, flight bags and binders. Every spring, all of it has to become three filings.

Big airlines keep a compliance department for this. Most small operators have a Friday afternoon.

That is the whole reason Aeroledger exists. You keep flying; we do the paperwork.

The anti-tankering charge

2×

Twice the conventional fuel price, charged for every tonne an operator is short. Getting the uplift wrong is the expensive way to learn the rule.

How it works

03 / The process
1

You send the records

Fuel tickets, invoices and certificates, as they are. Where your scheduling tool allows, we pull them straight from it.

2

We dig

We reconcile every uplift, chase the missing certificates, deal with the verifier, and take the registry admin off your desk.

3

We file

Three filings, done before 31 March. You get the filed copies and a clean archive, so next March takes an afternoon, not a month.

Why now

04 / The market
130

Claimants, 2025

Operators claimed SAF allowances for 2025, up from 53 the year before. The scheme is real, and the queue is forming.

2×

The penalty

Twice the conventional fuel price, for every tonne short on the anti-tankering rule. The 2026 reports are the first filed with real penalties in force.

2029

The horizon

The Commission's July ETS proposal adds more SAF support and a book-and-claim mechanism, and brings business jets into scope. More claimants, more paperwork.

Who it's for

05 / The fit

Regional, ACMI and cargo operators flying from the EU's larger airports: airlines with real schedules and real fuel bills, but no compliance department.

You are in scope for ReFuelEU once you run 500 or more commercial passenger flights, or 52 or more all-cargo flights, in a year from Union airports handling over 800,000 passengers or 100,000 tonnes of freight.

If you are close to the line, we will tell you which side of it you sit on before you spend a euro.

Scope, in plain numbers
500+commercial passenger flights a year puts an operator in ReFuelEU scope
52+all-cargo flights a year does the same
243flights per four-month period, or 10,000 tonnes a year: below that, the EU ETS exempts commercial operators
31 Marthe annual deadline for all three filings

The two questions everyone asks

06 / Straight answers

"Doesn't EUROCONTROL do this already?"

Partly, and only the first part. Its ETS Support Facility sells small operators a draft emissions report for about €400 a year. It does not touch the ReFuelEU report or the SAF allowance application, and a draft is not a filing: someone still has to check it, defend it to the verifier, and submit it. That someone is us.

"We already run Leon, Skylegs or FL3XX. Doesn't that cover us?"

Your scheduling tool knows your flights. It does not chase a missing SAF certificate from a fuel supplier, reconcile a mismatched invoice, stand in front of the verifier, or file the allowance claim. That messy part is exactly the product.

How we charge

07 / The deal

One fixed price per filing season.

Set by fleet size, agreed in writing before we start. The invoice lands when the filings are done, not before. If we are not the right pair of hands for your operation, we will say so in the first call and point you at whoever is.

  • All three filings, verifier handled
  • SAF certificates chased and reconciled
  • Registry admin taken over
  • A clean archive for next March

Who we are

08 / The company

Aeroledger is being built by Hatem Abnoun with New Frontiers, Enterprise Ireland's programme for early-stage founders, at the Tom Crean Centre in Kerry.

The big platforms fight over the big airlines. Aeroledger exists for everyone underneath them: the regional, ACMI and cargo operators who still have to file.
